Cordelia Newton began her dance training in Tucson, Arizona at Dance Force-1 at the age of three under the direction of April Garner-Hoose. She later continued her training at Franklin School of Performing Arts in Franklin, TN under the direction of Kaylee Cahoon and Thom Yzaguirre. Following high school, she earned a B.A. from Western Kentucky University in Dance. While studying, she was a part of the WKU Dance Company for all four years, performing works by Meghen McKinley, Amanda Clark, Anna Patsfall, Karen Mareck- Grundy, and Rich Ashworth. Cordelia also enhanced her choreographic skills by choreographing for The Dance Project and serving as The Dance Project Student Director in her senior year. During the summer months she
trained at Sarasota Contemporary Dance, Nashville Ballet, Ballet Tucson, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and was Resident Assistant at the WKU Dance Summer Intensive in 2023. This is Cordelia’s first season with GHDT and teaching ballet and adult fitness at the Academy of GHDT. She is looking forward to dancing with a talented cast and performing for such a wonderful community!
